Demand for plastics in consumer products continues to grow despite lobbies and legislations to discourage usage in retail, supermarkets, megastores, packaging and more.
In Developing nations (e.g. Asian and Middle Eastern countries)
a. Plastics are highly favourable - usage keeps growing as economy grows despite charging for bags
b. Poor collection of plastics waste, littering and overuse are highly visible
c. Legislation to reduce plastics use is often weak where public education and acceptance are slow
In Developed nations (e.g. North America, Europe)
a. “Plastic ban” and "charging for bags" campaigns may work, but resistance prevails and plastics use and demand remain high
b. High use of virgin plastics & usage of recycled resins and degradable technology that are better for the environment - remains slow.
SAWeco Plastics advocates REUSE, RECYCLE and REDUCE when using plastics to save the environment, through more use of recycled resins and biodegradable plastics technology in its product applications.
